Just got client removed from sex offender registry

I just completed representation of a client who was on the sex offender registry, but, as a result of my representation, no longer is.  In 2000, the client entered a guilty plea to 3rd-degree sex offense, which at the time required lifetime sex offender registration.  Earlier this year, the client came to me, in an effort to find out if there was anyway of being removed from the registry.  I ordered the transcript of the 2000 plea hearing, and found that the client was never told about the registry, until after the guilty plea had been accepted.  I filed a petition, alleging that the client should have been told before pleading guilty about the registry, and further alleged there would have been no guilty plea if the client had known beforehand that lifetime sex offender registration would be a consequence of the plea.  As a result, the 3rd-degree sex offense conviction was stricken, and the client is now off the sex offender registry.
